Forgetting that God had set them apart to be distinct from all other nations, the people of Israel asked for a king so that they could be like all the other nations. Knowing that this would not turn out well, God still granted their request. Saul was appointed king, followed by David and then Solomon; all of whom sought to reign in faithfulness to God while making many, many errors, some of them life-or-death.

Dr. David Bruner begins this week by taking us through a summary of events between Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy. We then take a look at the context of "the Law's" creation and how looking at Old Testament law through the lens of Jesus as well as its original context can give us a better understanding of their original intention and application to the present day.

The people of Israel failed to trust God time and time again. So to form them more fully, God led them through the wilderness for 40 years before allowing them into the Promised Land.
