The Long Story Short Class: Conquest

Sometimes, passages of the Bible can be tough to understand and to accept. Dr. David Bruner focuses us in on Joshua 6, one of the more violent and controversial sections of the Old Testament and gives us different perspectives and contextual offerings that we can utilize when something we read in the Bible may make us uncomfortable.

After Moses' death, Joshua was the appointed leader of the people of Israel. Joshua's job was to lead the people to radically depend on God once more for their provision and protection.

The Long Story Short Class: Waiting

While the Israelites were wandering in waiting for the promised land, the 10 Commandments and other laws were bestowed upon them. Dr. David Bruner begins this week by taking us through a summary of events between Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy. We then take a look at the context of "the Law's" creation and how looking at Old Testament law through the lens of Jesus as well as its original context can give us a better understanding of their original intention and application to the present day.

Long Story Short: Waiting

You'd think that being dramatically rescued from slavery and led safely through the parted waters of the Red Sea would be enough to inspire a people to trust God for eternity. Apparently not. The people of Israel failed to trust God time and time again. So to form them more fully, God led them through the wilderness for 40 years before allowing them into the Promised Land.
