The Long Story Short Class - Fall

This week in the Long Story Short Class we will be taking an in-depth look at Genesis 3. Guest speaker Alex Massad delivers a master class on how the fall of humanity relates to sin, death, and law. Alex also gives us an analysis on what did and didn't change because of the fall, and then invites us to look more broadly at creation as a whole and how other cultures different from one's own can provide valuable insight.

Long Story Short: Fall

God created man and woman in God's image to live in perfect, unbroken relationship with God, one another and all creation. But humanity's choice to try and be their own master, separated them from that close relationship with God and one another and marred their connection to creation.

This week, we explore our first real highlight of the bible in the Long Story Short series with a deep look at creation, focusing on Genesis 1 & 2. Dr. David Bruner walks us through what both of these creation narratives tell us about God and us, what makes the Hebrew/Christian creation narrative different from other cultures, and then invites us to take a closer look at some of the terminology as well as differences between both of these chapters.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. We often get caught up in the questions of "how"? But Scripture is much more interested in leading us to ask the question, "why?" Why did God create? What does the creation story tell us about God? What does it tell us about ourselves? And how does that knowledge lead us to live?

Long Story Short: How to Hear God’s Voice

In a world filled with noise, it is still possible to hear God's still small voice. We are able to hear God speaking to us as we immerse ourselves in Scripture and surround ourselves with committed Christ-followers. Our challenge in 2023 will be to do those two things.
